Centering Pregnancy

Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.

In our practice we offer two different forms of pregnancy check-ups.
You can opt for short checks (approx. 12 appointments of 10-15 mins each) or you can choose to participate in Centering Pregnancy (8 group sessions of 2 hours each). You can choose what suits you best.

Centering Pregnancy

The group checks start after your individual intake and the first meeting will be around 15 weeks of pregnancy.
The check-ups take place in a fixed group, at a fixed time, with a fixed midwife until 36 weeks of pregnancy. They will take two hours each. Note that the check-ups with ultrasounds, which are medically necessary, are scheduled at different times.
In these two hours, various topics are discussed in addition to any questions or concerns the group members may have. The pregnancy check-ups take place in a more informal way, using group discussions, education and interactive learning methods. By being together in a group, there is room for a lot of information and sharing experiences.
Even if you need extra care, you can also continue to participate in the group meetings.

The meetings

During these meetings, we start with the medical checks. You measure your blood pressure and weight by yourself, and keep track of these in your pregnancy booklet. Shielded from the group, the midwife will perform the external examination of your abdomen and will listen with the doptone.
Then we continue in groups, where subjects that are appropriate to the current phase of your pregnancy are discussed in a creative way.

Of course, your partner is also welcome. At least one of the group sessions is together with all partners. During the first session, it will be discussed with the whole group and it will be decided how this will be in the consecutive meetings. In any case, the partners are welcome in the first half hour, when the checks take place and the heart beat will be listened to.

Why participate?

Research shows that Centering Pregnancy makes pregnant women feel more informed and look forward to their delivery with more confidence. There is more time and opportunity for asking questions and this also allows us to discuss certain topics in more detail compared to the individual pregnancy check-ups.
Because all sessions are scheduled in advance, it is easy to plan.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
We are happy to answer all your questions and hear when you would like to participate.
